The inspiration

There is a word for the smell of rain
on warm earth. Petrichor.

Walk into the Sahara forty minutes after a brief desert storm and the air holds a scent that does not exist anywhere else on earth. Warm sand, releasing what it has held all day. A trace of stone. A breath of something green that the desert keeps hidden until the rain finds it.

Desert Oud is that scent, taught to wear well at dinner.

We did not write a fragrance about the desert. We translated one.

A landscape, not a single note

Most men's fragrances are a chord.
This one is a panorama.

Traditional men's perfumes lean on two or three dominant notes — leather, oud, vanilla, wood. They state themselves clearly and stay.

Desert Oud holds fourteen ingredients in suspension. Pink pepper at the entrance to mark the air. Peach and tuberose at the heart, soft as the moment before sunset. Oud, guaiacwood, vetiver and amber at the close — the long, warm settle of a desert night.

It is not a fragrance that announces. It is a fragrance that unfolds.

The composition

Fourteen ingredients. Three movements.

A scent that opens with morning, holds through midday, settles into evening.

Top — the entrance

Cardamom
Pink Pepper
Ginger
Bergamot

Spice and citrus. The first moments after the rain.

Heart — the surface

Peach
Clove
Tuberose
Date

Fruit and bloom. The desert showing its hidden softness.

Base — the night

Oud · Guaiacwood
Sandalwood · Vetiver
Musk · Amber
Cedarwood

Seven base notes. The settle. Hours after, still warm.

25% Parfum concentration · Eight to twelve hours of presence · Cool to warm seasons

Where it wears

A fragrance for the men who unfold a room.

i.
The introduction

First meetings. The pink pepper says you arrived sharp; the peach softens it; the oud carries the conversation past the handshake.

ii.
The long dinner

A scent that grows with the meal. By the third course, the wood notes have settled in. By the last, you are still the warmest thing at the table.

iii.
The shirt the next day

Desert Oud lingers in fabric like cedar in a chest. Twelve hours later, the trace is still there — a reminder of the wearer to the wearer.

"You cannot copy a desert. You can only translate it."

Dominique built Desert Oud around fourteen ingredients — far more than the industry norm of seven or eight for men's fragrances. The reason: a landscape requires more colors than a portrait.

Pink pepper to mark the dryness of the air. Peach and tuberose to suggest the desert's hidden water. Seven base notes to hold the long warmth of sand after sunset.

A scent built like a place, not like a brand.

★★★★★

"I get more compliments from this than from any other fragrance I've ever owned, including bottles three times the price."

★★★★★

"It smells different at hour one than at hour eight. Most colognes are a flat note. This is a whole song."

"My grandfather wore Arabian oud. This is the modern translation. I think he would have approved."

The questions we hear most.

How does Desert Oud differ from your other oud fragrances?

Cashmere Oud is the intimate one — soft, close to skin. Honeyed Tobacco & Oud is the warm one — sweet, projecting, evening-leaning. Desert Oud is the panorama — fourteen ingredients, a full landscape from morning spice to night settle. Most men own all three for different days.

Is it strong?

25% Parfum concentration — among the strongest in the HABIBI catalog. Two sprays carries a full day; three sprays and you will be noticed in a room. We recommend starting with two.

Is it really for men only?

The composition skews masculine — heavier on base notes, drier in the heart. Women who wear it often do so by choice. There is no rule.

How long does it last?

Eight to twelve hours on skin. The base notes — oud, guaiacwood, sandalwood — settle into fabric and stay through the next morning.
